Close Win Moves Miracle to 84-51
|
The Fort Myers Miracle picked up a win at Hammond Stadium, knocking off the Florida Fire Frogs, 2-1. Starting pitcher Mike Berkey played a key role in the triumph. Shamel Paulemon earned the save, his 34th in 36 tries. This win makes it 5 in a row for Fort Myers.
The Miracle got a big hit from first baseman Derek Hess. In the bottom of the sixth, Hess smacked a 2-run home run off Florida pitcher Tim Heitzman. It was his 11th home run of the season. Suddenly, the Miracle were ahead, 2-1.
"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Hess told the Fort Myers Herald.
