Ramirez Silences Tampa, 1-0
|
The Bradenton Marauders did little to support starter Mike Ramirez against the Tampa Tarpons, but it turned out he didn't need the help.
The left-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Tarpons, striking out 8 and surrendering 5 hits. The performance from Ramirez allowed Bradenton to escape with the 1-0 win despite an anemic offense.
"Nobody came to me and said 'Mike, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Ramirez told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
This year Ramirez has made 15 starts, thrown 134 innings, fanned 148 batters and walked 38. His won-lost record is 9-1 with a 3.16 ERA.
