Whiffin Stars for Loons in 8-5 Win
|
The Great Lakes Loons beat the Dayton Dragons, 8-5, at Fifth Third Field. The Loons got a fine performance from shortstop Domenic Whiffin, who was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 triples. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5. The win takes Great Lakes to 13-9.
Great Lakes used the timely hitting of Arturo Sierra to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Loons on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Anytime I can help the team, I feel good about it," said Whiffin.
