Getting a good performance from first baseman Mike Ruesch, the Burlington Bees defeated the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 5-3. Ruesch went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk for the Bees. Jamie Olinger sewed up the save, his 14th. Burlington, at 28-66, holds down 7th place in the Western Division.

Burlington used the timely hitting of Dan Carter to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Bees on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Carter told a Burlington Today reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
