Hot Rods Defeat Cubs, 4-2
|
Alfredo Gallegos pitched well, but his team, the South Bend Cubs, still dropped a 4-2 decision to the Bowling Green Hot Rods at Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium. Eli Sandler notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. His record now sits at 6-2. Juan Calvillo closed the door for Bowling Green, picking up his 15th save of the year.
Bowling Green relied on the bat of Luis Jauregui to get the win. The catcher ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Hot Rods ahead, 4-0. For the game, Jauregui had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"Feels good to get the job done," Jauregui said after the game.
Bowling Green is now 61-53.
