Giants Rally to Nose Past Philadelphia
|
The Giants earned a hard-fought, 4-3 win in 10 innings at Oracle Park. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Philadelphia pitcher Donte Hysaw. Hysaw went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. San Francisco reliever Gilberto Marcias was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Steve Eckenstahler. For the Phillies, the loss makes their record 11-17.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 2nd and no one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. That's when catcher Gene Lizewski, who is a two-time All-Star, hit a 2-run home run. The Giants went on to win.
"Sometimes you get the ball in the right spot and it goes," said Lizewski.
