Slide Continues for Rangers
|
Texas got a big-time effort from pitcher Chris Copping, but it wasn't enough to keep the New York Yankees from winning the game, 6-1. Copping threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. The save went to Cote D' Ivoire Singho, his 7th this season. New York has run its win streak to 4 consecutive.
Tim Schrodt had a big solo home run for the Yankees in the bottom of the fifth inning. With New York leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from Chris Copping, who is tied for 6th in the AL in complete games with 1, and punished it. The result was his 14th home run of the season, which put the Yankees on top, 2-0.
New York manager Joe Mazz commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
