Royals Drop Astros, 2-1
|
Kansas City registered a win at Kauffman Stadium by beating the Houston Astros, 2-1. Pitcher Tyrese Batteast was one reason why the Royals triumphed. Batteast, now 3-2, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Erik Dardy earned the save, his 3rd.
The Royals got a big boost from first baseman Josh Steele who had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning off Astros hurler Sean Balduzzi. It was his 13th RBI of the season and put Kansas City on top, 1-0.
Steele called it "a solid win."
Houston, now 6-26, continues its dreadful start.
