Marlins Lose 8-2 Decision to San Francisco
|
San Francisco pitcher Juan Villa did his part in helping his team defeat the Miami Marlins, 8-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the left-hander. Villa, now 2-3, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. San Francisco is now 23-12, 3 games up in the National League West Division.
In the bottom of the fifth, San Francisco first baseman Perri Cox had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Cox stroked a 2-run single to left. It made the score 4-2, San Francisco. For the game, he was 1 for 3 with a hit by pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"They took it to us," said Miami manager Austin Rylander.
