Braves Win, 3-0, at St. Louis
|
Mike Goode imposed his will on the Cardinals from the get-go. Relying mainly on his sinker, the left-hander spearheaded the 3-0 Atlanta triumph. Steve Pettit notched his 15th save in 23 chances. The victory gives Atlanta a record of 77-70.
Atlanta used a well-timed hit by Juan Polendo to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Braves ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
Atlanta manager Dan Smith praised his team's "businesslike approach."
