Houston Defeated By Marlins, 3-2
|
Starting pitcher Luis Moreno gave the Miami Marlins a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Houston Astros, 3-2, at loanDepot Park. Miami reliever Josh Lester, Jr. picked up the win, upping his record to 2-4. Jonathan Husky was saddled with the loss. Geoff Balentine closed it out for his 2nd save.
The Astros had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Marlins going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old third baseman Sean Griest came to the plate. Griest hit a run-scoring double on a full count fastball from Houston hurler Jeremy Hodge. It was Griest's 13th double of the year.
"Luis's as tough as he is talented," said Miami manager Austin Rylander.
Miami, at 32-30, occupies third place in the National League East Division.
