Akiriya Hits Two Homers in 12-3 Win for Mexico City
Behind the hitting of Andre Akiriya, the Mexico City Diablos stopped the Cincinnati Reds, 12-3. Akiriya went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Diablos. Juan Laguna earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 4-2. Chris Ellis, credited with the save, is now 1 for 2 in save opportunities.

Mexico City relied on the hitting of Walt Edmunds to pick up the win. The shortstop ripped a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put the Diablos on top, 1-0. For the game, Edmunds had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Edmunds.

The Diablos, at 35-31, sit in third place in the National League Central Division.
