Dodgers Deal Diamondbacks 3-1 Defeat
|
Los Angeles got a first-rate effort from pitcher Ted Przybyszewski, who frustrated Arizona hitters en route to a 3-1 Dodgers triumph at Dodger Stadium. Przybyszewski got the win, improving to 3-6. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. He allowed 1 run. Eric Stricker recorded the save for Los Angeles, his 12th of the season.
The Diamondbacks had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Dodgers going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 28-year old catcher Alfredo Ayala came to the plate. Ayala hit a solo home run on a 2-1 fastball from Arizona hurler Dave Buss. It was Ayala's 8th home run of the year.
"I was trying to do what I do, go out there and compete," said Przybyszewski.
Los Angeles is 30-42 and Arizona, with the loss, 30-41.
