Brewers Dealt 7-3 Loss by St. Louis
|
St. Louis beat Milwaukee on the strength of starting pitcher Lupe Arguedas's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 7-3. Arguedas yielded 2 runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 4, and struck out 10. His record improves to 7-2. The Cardinals, at 39-36, sit in third place in the National League Central Division.
Chris Chichester had a big 2-run triple for the Cardinals in the bottom of the first inning. With St. Louis leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a slider from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Andy Newell and swatted a triple to right. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cardinals ahead, 3-0.
"It never gets old," said Chichester. "Winning, that is."
