Cougars Prevail, as Round 1 Goes to the Wire
|
When the entire season comes down to one game, Ayden Hatchet said you find out what a team is really about.
As it turns out, the Kane County Cougars are made of fight and tenacity, as the team got by the Clinton LumberKings 2-1 tonight at Ashford University Field in order to win the Round 1 and book a place in the next round.
"It wasn't hard to get excited for this game," said Hatchet, whose strong offensive output earned him MVP honors. "Our guys answered the call and proved a lot about what our team is all about."
Hatchet hit .407 with a .467 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 1 RBI and scored 2 runs.
The Kane County Cougars will play against the Great Lakes Loons in the next round. Great Lakes won their series against the South Bend Cubs 4 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
