Mets Rally to Nose Past Montreal
|
Fans watched the New York Mets and the Montreal Expos fight to the finish.
The New York Mets topped the Montreal Expos, 7-6, in National League action at Citi Field. The standout performance belonged to New York pitcher and Middleburg, Pennsylvania, native Dan Davenport. At 36-50, the Mets are currently last in the National League East Division.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With New York trailing 6-5, Charlie Stoffel hit a fastball from Ernesto Esquivel to center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Mets had a walk-off win.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Stoffel said.
