Royals Pull Out Late Win, 3-2
|
The Royals grabbed a win, 3-2, at Target Field, overcoming a fine effort from Minnesota pitcher Pasquale Carnazza. Carnazza went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run. The win was credited to 31-year old right-handed pitcher Greg Navarro in relief. His record improves to 4-0. Sean Taylor took the loss. Rodolfo Barreto was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 4 save opportunities.
Yuma Qualls, who is tied for 6th in the AL in triples with 5, had a direct impact on the outcome. Qualls contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Kansas City up, 3-2.
Qualls said he was "thrilled" the fans had something to get excited about.
Kansas City has now won 3 in a row.
