White Sox Win, 9-4, at Boston
|
Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Boston Red Sox take on the Chicago White Sox.
Steve Fitts was a vital contributor to the 9-4 Chicago victory over Boston. The White Sox catcher was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Gord Downey picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-4. Juan Ramirez, who is tied for 5th in the AL in saves with 13, was tagged with the loss.
Worcester, Massachusetts native Steve Fitts had a clutch at-bat in the top of the seventh for the White Sox. With Chicago trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Fitts.
With the win, Chicago pushed its record to 55-51.
