Yankee Stadium hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.

The New York Yankees used a great performance from Pat Brothers, who is tied for 6th in the AL in innings pitched with 141.0, to beat the Oakland Athletics, 1-0, at Yankee Stadium. Jeremy Palka got the save, the 7th for him this season.

The Yankees got a big at-bat from designated hitter Eric Seevers. For the game, Seevers went 1-3 with a double. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 15th double of the season gave New York a 1-0 lead.

"Scoring was at a premium tonight," Seevers said.

After today's action, New York sits at 47-62, while Oakland falls to 63-46.
