|
The Oakland Athletics defeated the Cincinnati Reds, 5-2, in American League action at Oakland Coliseum. Beau O'Toole pulled his weight. The 13-year veteran went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Luis Torruella was credited with the save for Oakland, his 3rd of the season. The last-place Reds dropped to 51-61.
With Oakland leading 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth, O'Toole hit a sinker from Dan McCrady for a 2-run home run. It was his 17th home run of the season and put the Athletics ahead, 5-1.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Athletics manager Declan Flood.
