Boston Rallies to 6-4 Win
|
The Boston Red Sox had to overcome a fine effort from Cleveland pitcher Mike Fair to win, 6-4, at The Web at Progressive Field. Fair went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs. Juan Ramirez picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-5. Eric Plagge was tagged with the loss. Juan Flores recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 8 for 12.
Steve Groth drew 1 walk in his only trip to the plate for Boston. The 25-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring walk off Eric Plagge. It was his 6th walk of the season.
Groth called it "a solid win."
Boston leads the American League East Division by 3½ games.
