Reds Take Down Nationals, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Cincinnati Reds and the Washington Nationals, pitcher Nickolas Woodruff was the difference between victory and defeat. The Cincinnati left-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Reds win. Bobby Stewart notched his 2nd save in 2 chances. Cincinnati is now 53-62, Washington 65-49.
The Reds got a big at-bat from designated hitter Juan Ortega. For the game, Ortega was 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 29th double of the season gave Cincinnati a 2-1 lead.
"I was a little disappointed," said Washington manager Jonathan S. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
