Giants Handed 5-1 Loss by Atlanta
|
Dan Elsik, who is tied for 4th in the NL with a 1.08 WHIP, imposed his will on the Giants from the get-go. Relying mainly on his changeup, the right-hander spearheaded the 5-1 Atlanta triumph. Elsik, the winner, moves to 13-7. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 3 walks. With the win, Atlanta pushed its record to 66-63.
The Braves got a big at-bat from designated hitter Alfredo Salazar. For the game, Salazar was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 16th home run of the season gave Atlanta a 3-1 lead.
Salazar called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
