Yankees Bang Out 6-1 Win Versus Baltimore
|
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Baltimore Orioles home opener. Kevin Stump started for the home team against Pat Brothers for the New York Yankees. The Orioles were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 6-1, New York. Pat Brothers, though, was impressive. In 8 innings, Brothers surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run.
New York used the hitting of Mike French to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Yankees on top, 4-1. For the game, French had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
French said his team "played with focus."
