The New York Mets overcame a good performance by Atlanta designated hitter Zach Poindexter to knock off Atlanta, 8-6, at Citi Field. Poindexter went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. New York reliever Andy Riley got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Eric Grasch was tagged with the loss. Dan Davenport finished the game for New York and earned his 1st save.

Danny Edmonds hit a run-scoring double off Eric Grasch in the bottom of the fifth, which put the Mets in front, 6-5. In addition to the double, Edmonds had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.

"We got the victory," said Edmonds. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."

Atlanta, with the loss, is still a hardy 3-1.
