Slumping Yankees Lose Again, 7-5
|
The Montreal Expos beat the New York Yankees, 7-5, at Yankee Stadium. Nairobi Kalu was 2-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. The 2046 Rookie of the Year Award winner was a menace to New York all day. Andy Lussier got the win, improving to 2-0. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 3. The loss drops the Yankees to 1-6.
In the top of the third, Kalu had a 3-run home run for Montreal. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Expos on top, 3-1.
"From the last whatever, five, six, seven games, there's really only one way to go and that's up," said losing manager Joe Mazz.
