Jones Mashes 2 Homers in 6-3 Cleveland Win
|
The Cleveland Spiders dealt the San Juan Iguanas a 6-3 loss at The Web at Progressive Field. Eric Jones, who led the AL in extra base hits with 85 in 2043, was the star on offense. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Mike Fair was the winning pitcher. Over 5 innings, he allowed 1 run on 2 hits, with 4 walks and 3 strikeouts. The Iguanas drop to 3-7 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2050 season.
Jones contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Cleveland in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Jones took a fastball from Chris Jeffery and stroked the home run to left-center. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Spiders to leap in front, 3-1.
"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Jones told the Cleveland Herald.
