Cincinnati Defeated By Yankees, 7-2
|
The performance of Brad Peterson proved critical in helping New York beat Cincinnati, 7-2. The Yankees third baseman went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Arturo Pacheco came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Sean Carpenter, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save.
With New York trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Peterson hit a fastball from Nickolas Woodruff for a 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Yankees ahead, 2-1.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Peterson, "one at-bat at a time."
Cincinnati, at 2-11, has had a dismal start to the season.
