The Atlanta Braves picked up a win at Truist Park, dropping the New York Mets, 5-1. Dave Minjarez, who finished 2nd in the NL in innings pitched with 231.1 in 2044, was the difference-maker. The second-place Mets have lost 4 straight games.

The Mets had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Braves going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old first baseman Luis Malena came to the plate. Malena hit a run-scoring double on a 0-1 fastball from New York hurler Arturo Navarrete. It was Malena's 12th double of the year.

"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said New York manager Walter Mets.
