Blue Jays Take Tight Tangle
|
It took 10 innings, but the Toronto Blue Jays were able to beat the Minnesota Twins, 5-4, at Rogers Centre. Chris Nunez provided some offensive muscle for Toronto. He went 4 for 6 with 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winner in relief was Tony Jackson. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. He now owns a record of 4-2. The Blue Jays saw their win-loss record go to 39-64. At the same time, the Twins fell to 45-57.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With two out, Nunez hit a cutter from Isaac Nelson for a run-scoring single. The Blue Jays, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
Nunez attributed the win to "an all-around good team performance."
