Brewers Shut Out Cardinals, 3-0
|
In a well-pitched game between the Milwaukee Brewers and the St. Louis Cardinals, pitcher Chet Skinner was fantastic. The Milwaukee right-hander helped his team secure the win, 3-0. In 6 innings, Skinner surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Rubén Vallejo notched his 39th save in 44 chances.
The Brewers got an important contribution from left fielder Dan Philbrick, who in the bottom of the third punched a 2-2 changeup into right for a solo home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Brewers ahead, 2-0.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Milwaukee manager Wes Saver. "It's usually not just one thing."
Milwaukee now has a record of 76-71 with the win.
