Pioneers Need Extra Innings to Top Blue Jays, 5-4
The Portland Pioneers scored a tight 5-4 win versus the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre. Portland pitcher Pete Busick held his own in the contest. Manny Valdillez, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Portland is now 37-48, Toronto 38-47.

Portland needed the clutch hitting of Tony Stroud to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Pioneers on top, 5-4. For the game, Stroud had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Our team showed some gumption," said Stroud. "I like it."
