Raucous Busch Stadium Crowd Propels Cardinals to 6-2 Victory; Series Tied at 3
|
The St. Louis Cardinals and the San Francisco Giants will take the League Championship Series to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation, the Cardinals beat the Giants, 6-2, at Busch Stadium to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. St. Louis first baseman Arturo Barron went 4 for 5 with 4 singles, while scoring 4 times.
In the bottom of the fifth, St. Louis right fielder Duane O'Connor had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, O'Connor stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 4-1, St. Louis. For the game, he was 1 for 4. He drove in 3 runs.
St. Louis manager Michael Saunders called it "a pretty good win."
Game 7 is scheduled for Monday at Oracle Park in San Francisco.
