5-for-5 Day for Villareal Saturday, May 21st , 2039 Modesto Nuts right fielder Jose Villareal had a day to remember at John Thurman Field today, ripping apart the Stockton Ports and sparking the Nuts to a 11-2 victory. Villareal wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-5. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," Villareal told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it." Jose Villareal doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th. So far this season Villareal is batting .339 with 2 home runs, 16 RBIs and 18 runs scored. He has 40 hits in 118 at-bats, 6 walks and a .385 OBP. Villareal has played in 31 games. |
