Astros Move on to Round 2 Tuesday, August 30th , 2039 In a series that had a little bit of everything, the Houston (GCL) Astros have edged the Philadelphia W (GCL) Phillies West. The two rival clubs went the distance in the tightly-contested Round 1, with a 8-1 win in the clincher being the difference for Houston (GCL) and giving them the ticket to the Round 2 with a 2-1 series triumph. "We never stopped believing in ourselves. When push came to shove we were going to get it done," said Joe Rivas, who was named series MVP. For the series, Rivas hit .417 with a .462 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 2 runs. The Houston (GCL) Astros will play against the Detroit W (GCL) Tigers West in the next round. Detroit W (GCL) won their series against the New York A E (GCL) Yankees East 2 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
