7 Straight Wins for Mets
The St. Lucie Mets did just enough to sneak past the Clearwater Threshers, 7-6, at FirstEnergy Park. St. Lucie pitcher Junior Santos, in particular, had a standout performance. The slumping Threshers have dropped 13 in a row.

St. Lucie used a timely hit from Freddy Valdez to get the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mets ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"I made some pitches when I had to," said Santos.
