The Scranton WB RailRiders did just enough to secure a victory over the Iowa Cubs, 3-2, at Principal Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Michael King. Scranton WB reliever Brooks Kriske was the winner. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Wyatt Short. At 14-8, the RailRiders have played well so far.
Runs were at a premium. So, Josh Smith's at-bat with one out in the top of the ninth was crucial. The Scranton WB shortstop grounded out, driving in 1 run, to give his team a 3-2 lead.
Smith said his team "played with focus."
