Rodriguez Goes 5-for-5 Against South Bend
|
Carlos Rodriguez was at the head of a Wisconsin hit parade today at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. The center fielder went to the plate 5 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Timber Rattlers to a 12-3 victory over the South Bend Cubs.
"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Rodriguez told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."
Cubs skipper Bob Mariano said later that the club gave up "too much plate."
"Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."
Carlos Rodriguez hit a two-run home run off Jose Gomez in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
Presently Rodriguez is batting .307 with 1 home run and 14 RBIs. He has played in 32 games and scored 15 times.
