Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Braves
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals.
St. Louis got a decent performance from pitcher Jose Berrios, but it wasn't enough to beat the Atlanta Braves. Atlanta won the Busch Stadium contest, 5-3. Berrios threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Touki Toussaint, now 2-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. Luke Jackson earned the save for Atlanta, his 1st of the year.
Ronald Acuna Jr., the four-time All-Star , had a direct impact on the outcome. Acuna Jr. contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Atlanta up, 4-3.
"I like our mindset right now," said Atlanta manager A.J. Hinch.
The win takes Atlanta to 4-1.
