The Rome Braves did just enough to secure a victory over the Charleston RiverDogs, 4-3, at State Mutual Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Luis Morales. The winning pitcher was Morales, now 1-1. He tossed 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. Rome has now won 4 straight, while the RiverDogs have lost 5 in a row.
The Braves got a big at-bat from catcher John Baker. For the game, Baker went 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Rome a 2-0 lead.
"We'll savor this win," Morales told the Rome Observer, "then get ready for the next game."
