Extra-Inning Win by Tourists Over Legends
|
The Asheville Tourists picked up a win at Whitaker Bank Ballpark, knocking off the Lexington Legends, 5-3. On the mound for Asheville was right-hander Ricardo Zapata, who played a pivotal role in the win. Robbie Ray, now 2-3, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. Getting the save was Jonathan Diebler, his 3rd.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Ben Shtolzberg came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Lexington pitcher Brock Jones, he hit a first pitch changeup for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Asheville on top, 5-3.
"I like our moxie," said Tourists manager Al Richardson.
Asheville goes to 38-22, Lexington to 33-26.
