Getting a good performance from catcher Mitchell Mayer, the Hickory Crawdads defeated the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 7-4. Mayer was 2-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for the Crawdads. Hickory reliever Parker Messick picked up the win, upping his record to 5-2. Raymond Wilson was saddled with the loss. The Crawdads have now won 6 straight.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 11th. With one out, Mayer hit a fastball from Raymond Wilson for a 3-run home run. The Crawdads, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"I like the roll we're on right now," said Mayer after the game.
