The Delmarva Shorebirds did just enough to sneak past the Hagerstown Suns, 6-5, at Municipal Stadium. Delmarva pitcher Cade Weldon, in particular, had a standout performance. The winning pitcher was Weldon, now 10-5. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 11. Picking up the save was Mat Olsen, his 1st.
Casey Saucke II, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2021 draft, aided the Delmarva cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth. For the game, the third baseman drove in one run.
"We've got a great group of guys," Saucke II said, "and we're having fun right now."
The Shorebirds have an impressive 65-38 record.
