The Hickory Crawdads got a good effort from starter Nolan Sanburn in defeating the West Virginia Power at Appalachian Power Park. The final score was 3-0. With the win, Hickory raised its record to 78-37.

It could have been a different outcome for Hickory, had it not been for Max Gilliam, the 25-year old center fielder . Gilliam contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning to put Hickory up, 1-0.

"We had a good game plan," Sanburn said, "and we were able to execute it."
