The Asheville Tourists got a stellar effort from pitcher Jackson Leath, helping Asheville score a win over the visiting Delmarva Shorebirds, 3-1. In 6 innings, Leath surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 10 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Jack Foster got the save, his 3rd in 3 chances.
In the top of the ninth, Cristián Carmona stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Shorebirds were trailing 3-1, but had runners on 1st and 3rd. That's when Jack Foster made a terrific pitch and Carmona flied out. Gone was the dream of a Delmarva comeback.
With the victory, the Tourists upped their record to 78-41.
