The Kannapolis Cannon Ballers got a stellar performance from pitcher Nick Crosby, who handcuffed the Hagerstown offense en route to a win, 1-0, at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. In 5.1 innings, Crosby surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 0 and walking 4. He allowed no runs. Mike Ross earned the save for Kannapolis, his 3rd.

The Suns had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Cannon Ballers going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 18-year old right fielder Kenni Gomez came to the plate. Gomez hit a run-scoring double on a 1-1 curveball from Hagerstown hurler Manny Hernández. It was Gomez's 10th double of the year.

Gomez called the win "a team effort."

Kannapolis now sits in 6th place in the North at 56-73.
