Power Get One-Run Win at Kannapolis
|
West Virginia Power starter Alec Willis pitched a strong game against the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers at CMC-NorthEast Stadium, leading the Power to victory, 5-4. Jon Francis, now 2-2, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 3.1 innings. Arturo Romo was credited with the save for West Virginia, his 9th of the season.
The Power got a big at-bat from third baseman Seth Halvorsen. For the game, Halvorsen went 1-3 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 2nd double of the season gave West Virginia a 4-2 lead.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said West Virginia manager Tyler Pastornicky.
West Virginia now owns a record of 75-61.
