Grasshoppers Turn Away Suns, 5-3
|
The Hagerstown Suns got a sterling performance from pitcher Austin Strickland, but the Greensboro Grasshoppers still prevailed, 5-3. Strickland threw 5.0 innings allowing 2 runs. George Bodway, credited with the win, is now 6-2. He allowed no runs on 1 hit. Cody McClendon got the save, his 7th in 8 chances.
Had Paco Fajardo not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Fajardo hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Grasshoppers.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Fajardo.
Greensboro has a 3-game win streak, while Hagerstown has lost 4 in a row.
