Quakes Sneak By 66ers, 6-5
|
Fans watched the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes and the Inland Empire 66ers fight to the finish.
The Inland Empire 66ers got a sterling performance from pitcher Ryan Pitino, but the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes still prevailed, 6-5. Pitino threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. Picking up the save was Andre Garza, his 2nd.
Rancho Cucamonga used the timely hitting of Fred Springer to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Quakes on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Springer. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
The victory makes Rancho Cucamonga 34-93.
