Blaze Get Past Stockton for 4-3 Win
|
The Stockton Ports got a superb performance from pitcher Jason Walton. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Bakersfield. The Blaze won the game, 4-3. Walton threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. Hilton Gephart earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 2-5. The Blaze have now won 4 straight.
The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Bakersfield trailing 3-1, Jay Rivera hit a fastball from Jason Ruffcorn for a 3-run home run, giving the Blaze the walk-off win.
"This game had its share of tense moments," Rivera said, postgame.
